What our Tree Surgeons have been up to recently..
Job 1; Last job of 2016 and first of 2017 for our Tree Surgeons. Helping out another local contractor who calls on us for the more challenging and technical jobs, which suits us just right! Any job that you may need whether it’s big or small. We can help, just like we have with the local contractor who calls us for help.
Our tree surgeons felled three large Lawson cypress over two days,. Not only did we make friends with some animals but we also admired a large Cedar which thankfully didn’t require any work. This is because it was beautiful just as it is.
Job 2; Sectional fell of an Ash tree which was heavily encroaching over the house and garden, also crown lift another tricky to access ash. After the inevitable tomfoolery with throw lines we got on it and everything was lowered in with care avoiding the property and feather edge fence below.
All trees were covered by a TPO so permissions from the council and landowner were gained first. All wood stacked neatly on site in manageable sections and the brash ‘milled’ into an eco pile for nature to enjoy! Tidy.
Another unseasonably mild day for December! Warm in t-shirts, long may the good weather continue. And thanks to our lead climber for the day, you know who you are, great effort! Also thanks to the lunch fairy who delivered sausage sandwiches and Jaffa cakes direct to site!
Job 3; Messing around in the river today working for the Westcountry Rivers Trust, on the Lapford Yeo.
Felling Alder coppice to allow more light to the riffles (shallow sections) to improve the river habitat for fish. We also removed a large fallen ash which was slowing the flow. Plenty of time on the winch and some big lifts! Good effort Phil! Our Tree Surgeons saw buzzard, fieldfare, redwing, wren, a super nosy Robin and a grey wagtail. No kingfisher today but we’ll be back next week for more of the same…
Last year was great and we are now looking forward to 2017. Thanks to all our family, friends, customers and everybody who has supported and helped us so far. We genuinely appreciate it!
